Thanks to Jan Berger for
her donation of The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.
This biography by a computer science professor at Carnegie
Mellon, combines the humor, inspiration and intelligence
that made his lectures such a phenomenon. It is about living
not dying, although he has only been given a short time to
live. I saw him on TV and have now read this book and
recommend it highly.
We also have a new Rich Warren book, God’s Power To
Change Your Life. What does it take to: become more
loving, live more peacefully, develop patience, have self
control? Read this book and find out!
Here are some additional books from Ruth Stevens and Laura
Frank’s personal library:
1. Where To Find It In The Bible (over 3,700
contemporary topics) by Ken Anderson.
2. Truth That Transforms by Dr. D. James Kennedy.
This book is designed to open your eyes to the spiritual
potential in everyday life through a deeper knowledge of the
teaching of the Scriptures.
3. Abraham Lincoln—The
Man and His Faith by G. Frederick Owen. In this book we
have a wonderfully fine full length story of the life and
faith of Abraham Lincoln.
4. Could You Not Tarry
One Hour by Larry Lea. Do you find prayer a drudgery or
a delight. Lea has found that prayer can be pleasant and we
can learn how to enjoy it.
5. Foundation For Reconciliation: The Beatitudes by
Ray W. Ragsdale. The Beatitudes of Jesus contain only 135
words but they are ranked with the greatest of inspirational
literature.
6.
Women’s Spiritual Passages (Celebrating Faith After
40) edited by Lucinda McDowell. This book is a colorful
mosaic of women who thank God for the lessons the years have
brought them.
Thanks to Sharon Brandeberry for her donation of Sabrina
by Lori Wick. Sabrina is a prostitute who is befriended
by a couple. She walks away from her previous life into a
new life with Christ. But the men in Sabrina’s past keep
finding her. Eat, Pray and Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
This is a novel of one woman’s search for everything across
Italy, India and Indonesia.
A biography by Tony Dungy, coach of the Indianapolis Colts
football team, Quiet Strength, is now in the library.
He is truly a role model who has carried his Christian
ideals into his job.
