Ash Wednesday
On Wednesday, February 22nd, we will be gathering together in AUMC’s Sanctuary for an Ash Wednesday service to mark the beginning of Lent. The service will be at 7:oo PM and last about an hour.
Lent is a chance for each of us to draw close to the Lord as we remember what Jesus has done for us on the cross and as we anticpate celebrating His resurrection on Easter Sunday.
During the Ash Wednesday service we will…
-
be singing several hymns and choruses that remind us of the cross
-
hearing the Scripture read
-
listening as Pastor Tim shares a message about embracing the cross
-
visiting stations where we can…
-
have the sign of the cross placed on our foreheads
-
receive anointing from healing
-
make commitments to give up something as a reminder to follow Jesus and to embrace the cross. (some examples: meat, chocolate, smoking, alcohol, gossip or anything else that will help you remember to draw close to Jesus.)
-
make commitments to take up a discipline. (This is a great way to establish a good habit in your life.)
-
take time to simply kneel and pray
Please plan on being with us for this service!
